The Benefits of Strength Training

Saturday, 19 July 2008 GREATBODIES --

A lot of people are wondering why to start strength training and some do not because they are not aware of the benefits obtained from this. Working out Regularly is a very good idea and we will now discuss why strength training should be taken up by anyone as it should be a part of every single person's daily routine. According to the American College of Sports Medicine, strength training workouts are only needed 2-3 times per week and every single session should be of around 1 hour. This basically means that 2 to 3 hours per week can bring in a huge difference in your body.

If you go for strength training regularly you will notice that this will immediately help your daily activities at home. It would not be nice to not be able to lift one 5 pound bag of flour, especially in older individuals. The risk of hypertension, diabetes and osteoporosis is immediately reduced and we can also add lower back pain to this list. Bone density is increased, something very important for women that reached menopause and muscle mass is, of course, increased, thus burning more calories every day.

Although we can not rule out these benefits of strength training, people still avoid training with weights. Individuals are worried about injury and especially women are reluctant because of a fear of growing the muscles too much and looking like men. This is not correct as strength training is not only about building muscle mass and using machines instead of free weights is a great way to start. Women will not look like men in bodybuilding or strength training unless "Aided" with steroids, something that YOU SHOULD NEVER DO, being male of female. Strength training is as important as eating and running to lose weight and have a good metabolism. Even working out for free is possible so do not neglect strength training.
